Young chefs visit to Billingsgate - at dawn!

It was a very early start for Ms Daud and the Year 9 pupils who entered the Wandsworth Young chef of the year competition.

"We were up at 4:30am to visit Billingsgate Fish Market to learn about fishing and sustainability. Then it was off to Seafood School @SeafoodSchool where the students got valuable hands-on experience working and cooking with a variety of fresh fish. They improved their skills in cleaning, gutting and filleting.

In the afternoon the students took part in a baking masterclass at Burntwood School with a professional baker where students experimented with unique flavours and different frostings and decorations: Lemon and Lavender, Lemon and Thyme, Coffee and pecan, Carrot cake.

It was a really fun and creative session that will help them in preparation for the finals in March."
