Mariam is Futurechef 2025 Finalist
Earlier this term, one of our Year 10 students competed in the London Regional Final of the Springboard FutureChef competition.
Mariam M qualified after winning the school heat, and had spent time before the competition preparing and being mentored by Sam Fisk from Baxter Storey.
Mrs Daud accompanied her to the competition which was held at Walthamstow Central College in February. She said:
"We are all proud of Mariam’s efforts in the competition, she did so well to get to the regional final. She came up against some fantastic pupils from other London schools.
Special mention was made on the day of Mariam’s taste profile skills from her culture, particulary her Saffron, Pistachio, Rose Katefi cake, her skills really impressed the judges.”
Mariam worked hard to be ready for the national finals, supported and mentored by Sam and gained amazing experience working in the professional kitchen of USB Bank. She made it through to the last round - the national final - and had a chance to meet amazing chefs from around the globe, including Bake Off: The Professionals judge Cherish Finden (pictured). Unfortunately on this occasion she didn’t win, but it has been an tremendous achievement for her.
Mrs Daud continued: “It has been a pleasure to work with both Mariam and Sam Fisk outside of the normal school day. I’m really looking forward to seeing what next year’s competition brings.”
