Graveney School

Graveney School Fantastic GCSE Success

Graveney produced another set of outstanding GCSE results in 2017.

Confirmation of this was recently provided by our exceptional Progress 8 Score of +0.33.

This means that our students are on average achieving one third of a grade higher than similar students in every GCSE taken.

Our Progress figures in English (+0.71) and Mathematics (+0.44) were remarkable given the changes that took place to these GCSEs this year. Indeed 69% of students achieved a grade 5 (the new “Strong Pass”) in both English and Mathematics and 86% achieved a grade 4 (the old C grade) in both.

81% of last year’s Year 11 achieved 5 A*-C passes including English and Maths at Grade 4, with 69% achieving 8 or more passes. Our students performed exceptionally well in the core subjects, with 74% achieving success in English, Maths and at least two Sciences. A very impressive 47% achieved the EBacc 5+ in English and maths and Cs or above in Science, MFL and a Humanity.

Results were excellent across all ability groups, with 82% of non-selected pupils achieving 4+ in English and Maths. Pupil Premium students also made more progress than all students nationally. The average GCSE grade was B, and 41% of all grades were A*- A/ 7-9. 35 pupils achieved a remarkable 10 or more A*- A/ 7-9 grades, and 63 achieved 8. 39 students achieved at least one grade 9 - 16% of the cohort and 99 achieved at least one grade 8 - 40% of the cohort.

We are very proud of our staff and students for achieving these results at a time of huge change in the education system.
