CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR YEAR 13 STUDENTS ON THEIR A LEVEL SUCCESSES

Congratulations to our Year 13 cohort of 334 students who have achieved some fantastic results today. We are so pleased that this cohort, whose education has been so severely impacted by the pandemic and who didn’t have the benefit of taking their GCSES have done so well with their A levels. In addition to taking our own Year 11 students into our sixth form, we took a further 60 or so students who weren’t able to access the sixth form provision in their own schools. Our 2023 results have validated this decision to give as many students as possible a chance to succeed with an A level programme.

This morning our university applicants have been delighted with their results. 87% of them have had confirmation of a place at their chosen university and 7 of our students are on their way to Oxford or Cambridge. Our sixth form team are working with the 28 students who didn’t quite make the grades for their university choices to make sure they’re placed on appropriate courses/pathways over the course of the next few days.

The vast majority of our students have achieved passes in all their A levels. Our students sat 936 A level exams between them and over half (56.5%) received grades A*- B which is well above the national average of 52.7%. Our A*-A pass rate of 28.1% is also above national outcomes this year and 42 of our students achieved an amazing three or more A/A* grades. These results are a real testament to the hard work and dedication of both our students and our teachers for a cohort that missed their GCSEs and endured repeated disruption to their education due to Covid; we are incredibly proud of them and delighted to see so many progressing to the next stage in their education.
